Strive to improve your word power

The Process

1

Read about something you're interested in learning more about. As you read, note the new words and use these words in a different sentence.

2

Read articles and features written by authors who are well-known for their vocabulary. Subscribe to magazines that feature articles of great writers

3

Learn a new word everyday - use this word for three times- the word is yours

4

Choose a page from the dictionary and read through the same page for a week.

Later, when these words find place in a different context, you will be able to deduce their meaning without consulting a dictionary.

5

Listen to English songs. Follow the lyrics as you listen to the song. Grasp the new words and internalize them.

6

Watch movies- initially follow the subtitles if you don't understand. Eventually switch off the subtitles and comprehend what you hear. Note the new words

7

Interact with people who use the appropriate words at the appropriate time.

8

Friends make the best teachers. They introduce new words to you in a friendly manner, making it easy for you to remember them.

9

Listen to great speeches . Numerous words will fall into your book of vocabulary from great speakers.
